“Athwaruwa” (A Supportive Hand) Project
A journey of fellowship and humanity, seeking out innocent “blossoms” striving to bloom tomorrow.
This marks the second program of the school books and equipment distribution initiative.
Date: February 01, 2020
Location: Divisional Secretariat, Manampitiya, Dimbulagala.
Empowering 35 Bright Young Minds
In a society where many young lives drift aimlessly amidst the hardships and tears of their parents, we stepped in to provide strength to the hearts and pens to the hands of 35 innocent children. These are students who have endured such struggle that they often have no tears left to cry; our mission was to enrich their lives with smiles by providing all necessary school equipment and books.

Insights from the Field
The 35 most talented students, representing eight different schools in the area, gathered at the Zonal Education Office with new hope, believing that a day of flourishing dreams had finally dawned.
While organizing the event, we decided to walk through the surrounding village to understand the local context. We discovered a heartbreaking and isolated environment. Many families who previously lived in the Kelani Valley and were affected by river flooding had been relocated here. Unfortunately, some have continued destructive habits, such as the distribution and sale of narcotics, with school children often falling victim to these influences.
Furthermore, most families own only a 10-perch plot of land, which leaves no space for even small-scale farming (upland or lowland) to earn a living. Despite the area being rich with children possessing diverse talents and immense potential, the lack of recognition, facilities, or even simple oversight is a national tragedy.
A Living Hope
Education is the first chapter in a child’s book of victory. Understanding the vital need to provide the “letters” for that chapter and ensuring they are written correctly, “Human Heart”—through its “Athwaruwa” project—is committed to this cause. We extend our deepest gratitude to those who provided financial and material aid.
With the strength of these beautiful hands bound by heartfelt humanity, the “living letters of hope” for Sri Lanka’s future generation are being written correctly today.
A drop of dew on a blade of grass shines brilliantly when the sunlight hits it. Similarly, there are many “flowers” blooming in the wild whose scent might fade before they ever fully blossom. As fellow human beings, how can we look away? If we have the power to help that fragrance spread far and wide, we must fulfill that duty together.
This project is just the beginning. It represents a single day in the fulfillment of our supreme duty. We offer our heartfelt thanks to everyone—every individual and group—who contributed through funds, supplies, or even a kind word of encouragement to make this program a success.
Thank you!
