Human Heart: The 19th Journey of Fellowship
“#Nena_Pahana” (Lamp of Wisdom)
A two-day Leadership and Personality Motivation Program for students from Grade 08 and above.
-
School: W/M/Gal/ Devagiripura Walagamba Maha Vidyalaya, Galgamuwa.
-
Date: September 19- 20, 2025.
-
Conducted by: Human Heart Volunteer Social Service Organization.
Leadership is not merely about taking the top position in a group. When one person stands out within a team, it is because they have risen powerfully from among their peers. To succeed in our life journey, we must first learn to stand on our own. We must identify, sharpen, and temper our internal excellence, skills, and hidden talents. Before leading a group or an event, one must evoke leadership qualities within themselves. You must find the leader within you to cross the winning milestones of life. To conquer the world, you must first conquer yourself.
A student becomes first in class through their talent—but this doesn’t mean others are not talented. It simply means they did something more than the person in second place. Tomorrow, that can change through decisions made from the deepest parts of one’s life. At Human Heart, we plant the seeds of leadership in that deep place, providing the necessary nutrients and care. We don’t look for failure in fertile soil; we strengthen the sprouts that have already grown. Join us in reaping the harvest of this merit-filled field!
🔴 Program Overview
We connected with this school through our member, Navodya Chathumina. His university colleague, Teacher Vishmini Anuradha, invited us after seeing our work. We planned a dignified two-day program to fulfill this invitation.
🔴 Organization and Logistics
The Principal, Mrs. Neranjala Herath, coordinated with us to finalize the plans. Through a dedicated WhatsApp group, we integrated with the school staff to understand the students’ needs and the complex social backgrounds of their parents.
Although the school initially lacked basic accommodation facilities, they worked swiftly upon our arrival to prepare the gym for the boys and the teachers’ quarters for the girls, ensuring our team’s comfort.
🔴 The Journey
Securing funds for a private vehicle from Colombo was unsuccessful, so we opted for public transport. Despite some delays and missing our initial train to Galgamuwa, Teacher Anuradha supported us by arranging a vehicle from Maho station at 2:00 AM. Her family welcomed us warmly, providing a brief rest before the program.
Upon reaching the school, the Principal and staff received us with grand respect amidst the warm applause of the students. Although our member Navodya could not join the first day due to his new appointment as a university lecturer, he joined us on the second day to see the program through to a successful conclusion.
🔴 About the School and Community
-
The School: The Principal is an alumna of this very school, leading a dedicated staff with mutual respect. The students are “little gems” with innate talents and a strong desire to progress. However, the school lacks physical resources, including a projector. (Interested donors can contact the Principal through us).
-
The Parents: A friendly community that provided delicious, home-cooked food and beverages throughout the two days.
-
The Village: Located in an elephant habitat (near the Kawantissa elephant’s home range), the village is quiet after 7:00 PM due to safety concerns. Despite the regional drought, a light rain blessed our arrival.
🔴 Program Highlights
Despite the initial one-hour delay and resource limitations, we conducted a successful program filled with drama, music, and interactive activities.
-
The Campfire: Despite concerns about wild elephants, we held a vibrant campfire night under the protection of Wildlife officers and the Police.
-
The Blessing of Rain: A heavy downpour threatened the outdoor campfire, but the rain cleared just in time—a “blessing in disguise” that cooled the ground and prevented fire hazards in the dry grass.
-
Special Sessions: We also conducted a dedicated activity session for Grade 05 students.

⏳ Final Thought
“To achieve what you have never had, you must do what you have never done.” We guide heroes to become the leaders of tomorrow. Even a drop of dew on a blade of grass shines brilliantly when the sunlight hits it.
Look forward to the 18th “#Nena_Pahana” program coming soon!
Thank you!
